Hsinchu Ching Tsao Hu Elementary School Becomes First in the City to Fully Implement the “One Tablet per Student” Program; Mayor Kao Hung-An Joins Students in Experiencing an AI-Powered Smart Learning Course
The Hsinchu City Government continues to promote its “Hsinchu Loves Learning: Smart Campus” policy and actively implement the “One Tablet per Student” education program. Recently, the City Government subsidized Hsinchu Ching Tsao Hu Elementary School with 212 tablets and seven tablet charging carts, making it the first school in Hsinchu City to fully achieve the goal of “One Tablet per Student”. Mayor Kao Hung-An visited the school today to take part in the “One Tablet per Student: AI Creates the Future” smart learning activity. She joined third-grade students in the school’s green hedge area for the “Butterfly Eco-Discovery” course. Integrating tablets with Augmented Reality (AR) technology, the course guided students to learn about the life cycle of butterflies through a combination of virtual and real-world experiences, showcasing Hsinchu City’s achievements in combining digital education with outdoor exploration.
Mayor Kao said Ching Tsao Hu Elementary School has not only taken the lead in completing the “One Tablet per Student” program, but has also long been committed to smart education, outdoor education, and marine education, demonstrating strong results in cross-disciplinary teaching. By integrating tablets into classroom instruction, students can conduct ecological observations, interact with AI, and experience VR learning, transforming nature exploration into a learning process they can truly see, feel, and experience.
Mayor Kao noted that the City Government will continue promoting smart education and is committed to creating a learning environment that combines technology, humanities, and global perspectives. Through diverse learning opportunities, students can build the competencies they need for the future. She also encouraged students to make good use of technology tools, saying that they should not only know how to use technology, but also learn how to use it to explore the world and solve problems. In doing so, they can develop self-directed learning and innovative thinking, further realizing the educational vision of “Hsinchu Loves Learning.”
