Xiangshan Sports Complex All-Weather Court Completed and Opened! Mayor Kao Hung-An: Providing Residents with an All-Weather Sports Space
To improve the sports environment in Xiangshan and create a high-quality sports space shared by all residents, the Hsinchu City Government has actively promoted the “Xiangshan Sports Complex All-Weather Court Construction Project”, which was recently completed. The opening ceremony was held today, with Mayor Kao Hung-An, Hakka Affairs Council Deputy Minister Liao Yu-Pei, “Dr. Basketball” Cheng Chih-Lung, the cheerleading team of the Yankey ARK Basketball Team, several Hsinchu City councilors, and Chiefs of Village in attendance to officially announce the opening of the new court. The brand-new sports facility not only provides residents with an all-weather, safe, and comfortable place to exercise, but also marks a new milestone in sports development in Xiangshan. It further puts into practice the city’s vision of becoming a healthy, safe, livable, and sustainable city.
Mayor Kao explained that in addition to building a new all-weather basketball court, the project also included outdoor motorcycle parking, pedestrian walkways, and improvements to the surrounding landscape. The city also optimized circulation at the entrance to the sports complex and added a dedicated croquet practice area, comprehensively enhancing the venue’s overall functions and ease of use. In the future, whether for student clubs, public exercise, or sports events, residents will be able to enjoy a more complete, safe, and comfortable sports environment.
Mayor Kao said she is grateful to the Hakka Affairs Council for its strong support and subsidies for the project, as well as to the architect, construction team, and related departments for their joint efforts in completing the facility. After the opening of the Xiangshan all-weather court, residents will be able to exercise with peace of mind even on rainy days, giving the Xiangshan area a more complete leisure and sports space. Mayor Kao added that the track and field area was also renovated and opened before the Lunar New Year holiday this year. Together with the all-weather court, it now serves as an important venue for sports, exchange, and community gatherings for Xiangshan residents and local Hakka communities.
