Hsinchu City Upgrades Maternal and Child Support! Mayor Kao Hung-An Launches “Wishing You a Healthy Pregnancy 2.0” and Taiwan’s First “Mommy Care and Wellness Package” to Support Postnatal Physical and Mental Health
The Hsinchu City Government continues to implement its “Healthy and Safe” governance strategy. To build a comprehensive women- and child-friendly environment, the city government held a press conference today at City Hall for the upgraded “Wishing You a Healthy Pregnancy 2.0: Mommy Care and Wellness Package” program. Mayor Kao Hung-An attended the event and announced that the program will officially launch on May 10. Representatives from major professional partners, including the medical association, clinics association, and psychologists association, gathered at the event to witness a new milestone as Hsinchu moves toward becoming a city of “Happy Pregnancies, Healthy City”.
Mayor Kao said Hsinchu is a young and vibrant city, and every newborn represents the city’s future. Since taking office, she has upheld the core policy vision of “Government Supports Childcare from 0 to 6 Years Old” and promoted the three-part “Wishing You a Healthy Pregnancy” initiative, gradually building a support system that covers pregnancy preparation, fertility assistance, childbirth, and childrearing. In the pregnancy preparation stage, the city government provides egg freezing subsidies of up to NT$31,000 per person. In childbirth support, the childbirth allowance has been increased to NT$30,000 per birth.
Mayor Kao noted that the city government has also optimized childcare and care services. These include setting up one temporary childcare service site in each district, as well as adding evening and holiday temporary childcare services in the East District. The “Pregnancy Taxi Service” has also eased its eligibility requirements and extended service coverage to three months after childbirth, providing more flexible transportation support. In addition, the “In-Home Postnatal Care Matching Platform” has officially gone online, helping new families access professional care resources more conveniently.
Mayor Kao explained that the “Wishing You a Healthy Pregnancy 2.0: Mommy Care and Wellness Package” program announced today brings together a support network of medical institutions across Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County. Centered on two warm and thoughtful areas of care, the program builds a strong support system for new parents.
In terms of physical care, in addition to providing the “Mommy Care and Wellness Package”, which includes prepared mother-and-baby supplies, the city government will also offer two free postnatal care services and a “Breastfeeding Support Group”. By bringing in professional support, the city hopes to reduce the physical burden on new mothers and help them recover with greater ease and peace of mind.
