Mayor Kao Hung-An Presents Plaques and Carnations in Person; 172 Exemplary Mothers Create Hsinchu’s Most Touching Cityscape
The Hsinchu City Government held the “2026 Exemplary Mother Recognition and Photo Event” today at the gymnasium of Hsinchu Municipal Chien Kung Senior High School, with Mayor Kao Hung-An personally attending to present awards and pay the highest tribute to 172 exemplary mothers. During the ceremony, Mayor Kao presented each honoree with a plaque symbolizing honor, warmly interacted with them, and took photos together. The atmosphere was heartfelt and moving. Through the ceremony, the city government hopes to encourage the public to cherish and appreciate mothers’ devotion, allowing maternal love to continue flowing through and enriching the city.
Mayor Kao said mothers are not only the pillars of their families, but also an important force behind the city’s stability and progress. This year’s 172 exemplary mothers come from different generations and backgrounds, and each has a moving life story. Whether quietly giving to their families or continuing to contribute to society, they all embody the greatness and resilience of maternal love. This year’s oldest honoree is 97-year-old Ms. Juan I-Ying, while the youngest is 38-year-old working mother Ms. Chiu Wan-Ling. Although they are at different stages of life, both have become shining role models for the city through their selfless dedication and deep maternal love. Mayor Kao also went down from the stage to hold Ms. Juan’s hand and accompany her onstage, praising her bright smile and clear speech. She further wished every mother good health and a long life.
Mayor Kao noted that Hsinchu is a young and vibrant city, and the city government continues to promote all-age care policies covering children, youth, and elderly, so that people of different generations can live in the city with peace of mind. In child and youth care, the city government has promoted the “City Government Support for Ages 0 to 6” policy, increasing childcare subsidies and child-rearing allowances. This year, it also launched the “Hsinchu Children’s Strong Card” program. To date, more than 48,000 cards have been issued, and over 25,000 young children have completed redemption, demonstrating parents’ strong attention to their children’s healthy growth. In elder care, the city government continues to optimize the diversified use of the Senior Citizen Card and denture subsidies. It has also provided nutrition subsidies for disadvantaged seniors and free health checkups. Since April, the city has also launched the “Elderly Care Allowance”, allowing older residents in Hsinchu to receive better support and care.
